Although Im guessing, I think that, where the bike path dies in Brewster, New York, a continuation of the paved bike path will spring up in the next three years because theres a way to do it, and the way looks clear. there there. Other than that this was a really nice trail and I would bike it with caution, or a mountain bike. On the way back we took the River trail. It goes parallel to the river and it is very pretty. We started from the southern endpoint in Hopewell Junction and rode the trail to Poughkeepsie where we rode over the Walkway Over The Hudson on onto the Hudson Valley Rail Trail to New Paltz. There is only road side parking on a soft shoulder, both sides of the road. This ride takes us from the Brewster Trailhead passing Ice Pond, The Great Swamp, a rail trestle bridge, and the back side of Greenhaven Prison (!).. 12 memorial benches in less than 1.5 miles and business advertisements, complete with phone numbers have replaced the natural scenery in front of Lake Walton, what was once the most scenic section of the 15 mile stretch to the Walkway.
